Nice to meet you!
Hello! I’m Lori, the creator of Bright Day Studio. I founded this studio to foster joy, connection, and personal expression through art and play. When my two children were growing up, I yearned for a safe and relaxed place where we could meet other people, feel welcomed, explore art-making, and have fun together. Now, Bright Day Studio is that place!
With years of experience teaching people to express themselves, I've worked in many fields. I’ve had the pleasure of being a dance teacher for children, young adults with disabilities, and adults for 10 years. I also worked as a children’s librarian for three years, so don’t be surprised when we read a story or two! Additionally, I partnered with my husband for a decade to build his medical practice, overseeing the transition to an electronic medical records system. And way back when, I spent eight years in corporate America at TV Guide Magazine.
My love for art began at a young age. I spent countless hours coloring intricate posters, painting, crafting, needlepointing, embroidering, sewing, and latch-hooking (remember that fun craft?). I also dabbled in basic woodworking and learned photography, even developing black and white photos in our basement. As an adult, I've taken classes in drawing, watercolor, pottery, paper-cutting, visual journaling, Zentangling, and hand-lettering. It was an absolute delight to introduce art to my children from the moment they could grasp a crayon and to watch their skills grow over the years.
Now, I look forward to sharing my experience and love of art-making with you. See you soon!
Lori
PS - Fun fact - some days my hair is curly and some days it’s straight!
